Flirty Flamingo Ice-cream

Flirty Flamingo is our featured colour in this week's Monochromatic Instagram Hop with the #craftycollaborations crew.

This card was made using the Ice Cream Swirl bundle from the mini catalogue. I stamped the ice cream image with Flirty Flamingo ink and then coloured in with my Flirty Flamingo Blends markers. I like the way the colouring turned out - deliberately a little messy/wonky lines.

The ice cream cone was die cut from Flirty Flamingo card stock and then I used a blending brush to add ink around the edges for some depth.

The strawberry on top has some Fine Tip Glue over the top for a glossy finish.

The background was embossed with the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder.

Starry Sky

Starry Sky is the colour for the latest monochromatic Instagram hop and the name of the colour dictated the stamp set choices to me.

I've used the "In the Stars" stamp with White Craft Ink to create the background. I thought about using shite embossing powder over the top but decided against it - I like the way the White Craft Ink dries down to a softer colour. If you want bright white, then cover with white embossing powder.

I then used the Reach for the Stars bundle for the sentiment and the focal image of the space shuttle.

Finally a few matte dots from the matching In Colour collection and the card is done. Super simple really, but I think it's quite effective.

What do you think?

Pebbled Path - In The Moment

It's Pebbled Path's turn for the Monochromatic look.

This time I've used the In The Moment stamp set and the Countryside Blossoms embossing folder.

I stamped the image with Pebbled Path ink onto Pebbled Path card stock for that tone-on-tone look.

White pencil from the watercolour pencils is a great way to add some highlights. I roughly coloured the parts of the image which I thought were the "relaxation" elements - the book, pillows, socks, cup of tea and the dog.

To continue the white highlighting theme on the embossed background, I brushed on some White craft ink using a blending brush. If you do this lightly, with a gentle touch, the white ink will just touch the raised portions of the embossed background and help them stand out.

A few white dots to add a finishing touch.

I rather like how this turned out - a fun technique to try on your own projects.

Parcels & Petals - thank you cards

I love to make and send thank you cards to my fabulous friends and customers.  I really appreciate them choosing to spend their hard-earned money with me.  For my September customers I chose the Parcels & Petals stamp set to make their cards with. I also sent them a pack of our cute Artisan Pearls (no longer available) as a bonus gift.

The Woven Heirlooms designer series paper was perfect for this project - I really like the Rococo Rose and Sahara Sand piece.  I've teamed it up with Granny Apple Green to bring a little brightness to it.  The Stitched Shapes dies are used A LOT in my craft room - especially the circles.
I don't always come up with my own card designs from scratch - I found a card I liked on Pinterest and then modified it to suit the colours and papers I wanted to use. Do you do that too?

The floral imagery in this set is lovely - its kind of a speckled and mottled look. Very "forgiving" (as in, you don't have to stamp it perfectly and it will still look good!)

Heartfelt Blooms in Black and White

Each month I send out Thank-You cards to the lovely people who have purchased from me.  Here is the card I sent out for my December customers.  I used the brand new "Heartfelt Blooms" stamp set which is a FREE item during Sale-a-bration.  I put it together with some retiring items from the Holiday Catalogue - the Designer Series paper, black crochet trim and the metallic washi tape. I love how the black and white theme turned out.

The stamp itself is amazing. So much detail and shading with just one ink pad!  Its all in the way the stamp was made.  It almost looks totally flat when you first look at the rubber.  Its very clever.

Here's a video so you can see a few ways to use it:

Magical Mermaid

Hi friends! Long time between blog posts, I know.  New Year's Resolution - get back into blogging! ;-)

I have attempted to set up my blog and email provider so that when I post to this blog, it will be emailed out to those on my newsletter email list. Fingers crossed it works! Hopefully this will be the first blog post that will be email out - if you're reading this post because you received it via email, please leave me a comment to let me know :-)

I shared this photo on my Facebook page but I know there are many of you who are not "on Facebook" so I hope you enjoy this post.

I made this Mermaid card recently for my friend's daughter's birthday. I really enjoyed making this card - I love heat embossing and I love mermaids! :-)

The Foil Frenzy Designer Paper gives plenty of shine and the heat embossing also adds some more shine.

Here's a close up to try to show you that shine a little better:

To create the copper doily, I patted my versamark ink pad all over the white doily, then covered it it Copper embossing powder and heated it until it melted.  I had to repeat the process in a couple of spots to get a nice, even coverage.  I love the way it turned out!

I hope you enjoyed seeing my mermaid card and I look forward to sharing lots more creations with you this year.

Love Bec.
