Sick, sick, sick...

Hi everyone,

Sorry AGAIN for the break in posting. This time it was a bout of VERY nasty gastro that attacked our household. Matt and I had it very badly but thank GOD for my parents! Mum actually left work and came to collect our son Toby and took him for 2 days and nights. She got him just in time and he didn't get sick. I'm soooo grateful to them for that as it was such a nasty bug I really didn't want him to catch it. I have no idea where I picked it up from but it really knocked us around. Being pregnant didn't exactly help either! We had the after hours doctor here at 5am after a scary night.

Did I mention how grateful I am to my parents??? Here's some proof that we really love them and appreciate their help at times like this:

I normally would have come up with my own ideas for something like this but I was pretty exhausted from being sick so it was just easier to copy in this instance. Thanks Carol for posting such gorgeous ideas on your blog!

The only thing I changed was the ribbon and cardstock that the flower image is stamped on. I didn't have the white organdy that Carol used so I used the Ivory colour and then used Very Vanilla cardstock so it would match better with the ribbon. I also used a Very Vanilla envelope and stamped the same flower image on it.

I also gave them a gift voucher so I made a little gift card wallet using the same template as these ones I did for Christmas.




I used the Enchante paper from the Summer Mini for this wallet and a Pale Plum button from the Soft Subtles buttons.

Nathan's birthday card

This is the card I gave to my brother-in-law Nathan recently. I actually made this card quite a while ago as part of a set from a Simply Scrappin' Kit. My lovely upline Liz created a set of instructions on how to make 20 cards from the Simply Scrappin' Kit Party Pieces. I'm happy to give a copy of these instructions to anyone who purchases the kit from me. They are fun and easy to make. The kit coordinates perfectly with the stamp set "Eat Cake" which is what I used to decorate the envelope.

Birthday Bird for Betty

This is the card I made for my lovely mother-in-law Betty. Her birthday is on Halloween and so is my sister's husband Nathan's birthday.
This card is totally CASEd from SplitcoastStampers - I doubt I would ever come up with this on my own!
It turned out quite well but I'd like to have another go at it. I couldn't find my watercolour paper and I had lent my Staz-On to a friend so I used Basic Black ink on Naturals Ivory cardstock. I think it would have been better on the watercolour paper. I definitely need more practice watercolouring. I'm slowly getting the hang of it but I'm not as controlled with the Aquapainter as I would like to be. The good thing about watercolouring is that it looks pretty good anyway even if you're not too good at it!

I'm back...kinda...

Hi everyone,
I'm so sorry this blog has been so neglected. I have the best of intentions but...I have been really sick for the last few weeks. I am suffering a bad case of pregnancy nausea! (Yay but not yay at the same time)
I hope to be well enough soon to stamp something to put on the blog for you all. At the moment I'm just focussing on getting through this Saturday at the big Christmas workshop at Carina.
Here's a sneak peak of some of the cards we'll be doing that day. Perhaps I'll be able to post the instructions for them later as a tutorial. Should be lots of fun!

takin' a break

Hi everyone. I must apologise for my unannounced "break" from blogging. No excuse really other than I haven't had the enthusiasm and/or time to stamp anything much lately for the blog. At one point I was working on some place cards for a wedding and have now managed to stamp a few things in the last few days that I will post on here ASAP. Just need to get my chief photographer on the job to take some nice piccies for me!

So busy...

Well again I have not updated the blog for a few days - sorry! I have just been so busy with other everyday life stuff that I haven't had time to stamp anything new, let alone take photos of it and upload to the blog.

I did get a little bit of stamping done today - finished off some card candy to use as door prizes at my workshops this month. I've also been busy prepping the materials for tomorrow night's workshop and class materials for August.

August is going to be a very busy month for me. I have 3 workshops, 3 classes/stamping nights and am also busy rehearsing with a local orchestra for our performance of My Fair Lady the musical at the end of August. If you're local to Brisbane and are interested in seeing the musical, let me know and I'll pass on the details to you. Tickets are only $10 for adults, $7 concession and $25 for a family.

I should be able to upload some photos on Thursday from Wednesday's workshop. I'll also update the blog tomorrow when I finally find out what the monthly special is. All we know so far is that it is something special for hostesses. I'm guessing its extra hostess dollars or a bonus stamp set!

Got my Mac back

My Mac (laptop) has been in the shop getting it's fan fixed so I've been on a borrowed computer for the last few days, hence the lack of blog activity. But now I have my Mac back! Yay! ( I love my Mac) Just had to celebrate!

Gee I'm Slack!

Sorry about the lack of updates this week. I've been flat out with all things stamping. For four days this week I have been at my local Curves teaching people how to stamp a bookmark with the ladies contributing $2 each towards breast cancer research. That has been keeping me very busy! A big thanks to Fiona and the girls at Curves for allowing me to do that.
I know I promised some instructions for the faux metal technique and I'll get onto that ASAP. I just have a little bit more work to do first on my swap cards. I've entered a 10 person swap with some other demonstrators from around Australia. The idea is we use products from the new mini catalogue so that we all have a variety to show our customers. Mine are almost done so I'll post a pic soon.
Open stamping night was last night and we had a lovely time working on our projects. Mainly cards but one keen scrapper, my friend Monica, got lots of stamping done for the titles in her album. I'm sure it certainly saved her a lot of money to stamp rather than purchase alphabet stickers and rub ons!

Feeling Crummy...

Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't updated the blog with any pics yet. I've not been feeling well at all today and on top of that have been busy with visitors all day. I've also been busy with preparing for the Hostess Appreciation night which is tomorrow. I still have a few more things to do for that. Then I need to put my head down and get some thank-you cards done for my birthday gifts. So much stamping to do and so little time!

Scrapbook & Papercraft Convention & Expo

On Saturday I went to the Scrapbook & Papercraft Convention & Expo at the Convention Centre. I didn't buy TOO much but managed to spend a little bit of money! I bought a Versamark Pen which I think will be really nifty. I also bought some storage for my ribbons to keep them neat and tidy. Now I just need to mount it on the wall. I also bought a nice tin that I will decorate with Designer papers and ribbons etc. It is just the right size to keep cards in. I'll post a picture of it when I'm done. There were lots of lovely things there. Check it out if you have time. It's on until Monday the 11th.

Home again!

Well I'm home from my little holiday up north. I will post some pictures of the projects made at my workshop. It was lovely in the pergola area of the cafe. We had lots of room to spread out and create. I didn't end up having time to take photos on the day but have taken some now that I am home.

Mini Holiday

Well today Toby and I are off on a little holiday. We are flying up to Gladstone (Toby's first plane ride!) and we will be staying with my friends Mel and Rowen and their little boy Bailey. While I'm there I will be doing a little workshop for her friends. It will be at a cafe which I think is a great idea! No food preparation for the hostess and no cleaning up after - perfect! I will post some pictures of our projects when I get back home on Sunday.
