Baby Cards We Received

We received some gorgeous cards upon the birth of our second son Owen.  I thought I would share with you the lovely hand-made cards amongst them.

Owen at 2 weeks old

Hi all, just a quick brag post to show off my gorgeous new man!  Here's Owen at 2 weeks old, taken on Monday.

Now for the proper one...

Here's the other card I made for Mum for Mother's Day along with a matching Chocolate Bar holder.  I also made the same again for my Mother-in-law.

I basically copied this one straight from page 72 of the Idea Book & Catalogue.  I left a couple of details off my version because I didn't have the exact same stamp or brads as the one in the catalogue.

For those of you who don't already know, if you see a project in the catalogue that you want to recreate, you can look up the page number in the back of the catalogue and find a list of all the colours and products used to create it.  

Stamps: Wild Rose, Occasional Greetings, Priceless 

Inks: Blue Bayou, River Rock, Wild Wasabi

I'm not sure about everyone else's computers and web browsers but I know that at least on mine, I can click on the photo and it will bring up a much bigger version so that you can see all the detail properly.  So if you can't make out the details, please try clicking on the photo to get a close up look at it.

Sometimes I just 'crack' myself up!

Well, I wasn't sure if I would offend anyone by posting this card on my blog - hopefully not!  If you are offended, please blame my mother as she encouraged me to put it on here! LOL!

For Mother's Day, my siblings and I decided to have a little photo shoot with my hubby playing photographer so that we could give Mum a much needed up-to-date photo of us.  The last one taken is about 10 years old now!

Anyhow, whilst we were playing around on our photo shoot we decided to take this picture of us all bending over because it has become a bit of an on-going joke in our family about being able to see someone's 'crack' when they bend over with low rider jeans on, especially my two sisters!

On the inside of the card we wrote "We hope this Mother's Day is all it's 'cracked' up to be!"

Mum had a really good laugh when she saw it and even thinks we should frame the photo and hang it in the bar! 

(I'm not going to tell you which behind is mine!)

Making this card was really easy.  I simply printed out the photo and cut it so that it had a white border around it.  Before I adhered to photo to the upper part of the card front, I rubbed the Embossing Buddy all over the cardstock to prevent the embossing powder sticking where I didn't want it to stick.  I then stamped the sentiment in White Craft Ink and embossed it with the White embossing powder.  Easy!  

The reason I did the embossing before putting the photo onto the card is that the heat from the heat tool can warp the paper and I didn't want it to damage the photo.

As for the writing inside the card, I used my White Gel Pen which looks really great when writing inside cards made from black or dark colours of cardstock.

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to post a quick message to say that we have a new addition to our little family.

Baby Owen Benjamin Ross was born on Monday the 28th April weighing 8 pounds 10 and a half ounces, 52cm long.

He looks very similar to his big brother when he was born but is a bit smaller and his hair is lighter in colour.

We're very in love with him and he's been a wonderful baby so far! He had to put up with being under the phototherapy lights for 4 days and is still a bit jaundiced but we are glad to be home and trying to settle into life as a family of 4.

Baby news

Well, this is probably just about my last post for the next couple of weeks.  

I am going in to hospital tomorrow to have my baby!!!  Since I am having this baby by caesarian section, I will be in hospital for the best part of a week and then won't be up to doing much for a little while.  But I do hope to pop on to the internet after I get home to post a photo of the baby here for you with all the relevant details.

Here are some pics of me and my baby belly taken just the other day - can't believe this belly is about to be gone very soon!

Baby cards

Two of my lovely friends became Grandmothers this month!  Here is a picture of the card I made (I cheated and made them both the same cards!  I was running short of time so it was just easier to make two of the same)

Here's what I used:

Stamps: Fun and Fast Notes

Inks: Blue Bayou, Purely Pomegranate, Soft Sky, Staz-On black

Paper: Soft Sky, Purely Pomegranate, Not Quite Navy, Watercolour paper

Accessories: Purely Pomegranate stitched grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals

Tools:Word Window Punch, Aquapainter

You may notice that the sentiment is a long way away from the image.  When you purchase the Fun and Fast Notes set, you can actually cut the sentiment apart from the image and mount it on the end of the wood block.  I like to do this now so that I can use my images and sentiments separately more easily.  If you don't like to cut yours apart like this, you can just ink up the part of the stamp that you want with a marker or do it carefully near the edge of the ink pad.

Next time I have the time to blog, I will post some photos of my stamps that have been cut and mounted in this way so you can see the difference and the versatility.
