Cherish Layout

This layout was really easy (as are all the layouts in this album!). I started with Almost Amethyst cardstock and ink and stamped a heart (from the "Simply Said" stamp set) randomly all over both pages.

I wanted to use brushed silver cardstock but since I didn't have any I used silver embossing powder around the edges of some Whisper White. This was actually my husband's idea! We were chatting on the phone and I was telling him what I was trying to do but had no silver cardstock. He said "why don't you do that embossing stuff on some plain paper, you know, where you use that powdery stuff and and heat tool?"
Gee, he HAS been paying attention to my stamping sessions!

I stamped the Cherish stamp in Elegant Eggplant ink on vellum cardstock. I then stamped various words from the "Everyday Flexible Phrases" set, also in Elegant Eggplant ink. The vellum carstock was attached to the page with silver brads.

Please click on the photo for a close up view.

Stamps: A is for Adorable, Everyday Flexible Phrases, Simply Said

First Page

Ok, so this page doesn't really use any Stampin' Up! products (shhh, don't tell anyone!) but I have a few bits and pieces laying around in my stamping space from my pre-Stampin' Up! days that need using up.

I used some Bazzill Basics cardstock and a pack of stickers I'd bought years ago at a scrapbboking shop. I snipped the corners off the photo with the 1/2 inch circle punch (by Stampin' Up!) and popped in some white brads. And that's about it for this page really.

Finally! Some Scrapbooking!

So I've shown you lots and lots of cards on my blog - that's what I do the most - but I haven't shown you any scrapbooking until now.

Over the next few days I'll be posting pictures and recipes for the pages I made to put in an album for my nephew Julian for Christmas. The album is 8x8 (which Stampin' Up! don't sell at the moment so I had to buy the album from Spotlight) and I have found this a fantastic size to work with. It's perfect for putting 1 standard size 6x4 photo on each page with plenty of room for embellishmants and journalling.

I created the layouts in the album for Ray and Bell (Julian's parents) to add their own photos and journalling to later. Try to imagine the layouts with photos on so that there is only 1/8th inch of the photo mat showing.

Here is the front of the album and the stamp set I used as my "theme" or "motif" throught out the album to tie it all together. This stamp set is a Level 2 Hostess set from the current catalogue. It is called "A is for Adorable".

Seems I've been tagged...

Debbi left this comment under my last post, tagging me.

You've been tagged:
The rules of the game:
• Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
• Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself on your blog, we all want to know them.
• Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
• Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Ok, this is my first time being tagged on my blog so here goes:

1. I met my husband in a marching band - he plays the drums and I play the clarinet

2. I'm not artistic at all - can't draw or paint - but I really enjoy crafts because I get to do artistic things without actually having artistic talent!

3. I am writing this post sitting on the couch with my little boy who is watching Elmo on TV - he is addicted to Elmo and boy are his Daddy and I sick of watching it! He he he.

4. I have been married for almost 7 years.

5. I have 2 younger sisters and a younger brother.

6. I'm a bit of an emotional person (my star sign is Cancer) and my feeling can get hurt easily.

7. I am having another baby in April or May (depends whether you go by my dates or the ultrasound dates!)

The 7 people I'm tagging are:

1. Liz

2. Julie

3. Gemma

4. Carol

6. Chrissie

7. Marelle

Gift card holders

Here's another little item I've been making as Christmas gifts over the last few weeks. These gift card wallets are really easy to make and you can make 4 from one sheet of 12x12 designer paper.

I got the idea and instructions HERE.

Paper: Holdiay Thyme
Accessories: Buttons

Christmas Boxes

Well once again it has been a few weeks since I last posted anything on my blog - sorry everyone!

I have actually been stamping things, I just haven't had a chance to take photos and write up descriptions until now.

Here are some cute little explosion boxes I made with the Holiday Thyme papers Stampin' Up! recently had on sale. You can find a tutorial for these boxes HERE at the Splitcoast site.

Stamps: Terrific Tags (hostess only)
Inks: Old Olive, Bravo Burgundy
Paper/Cardstock: Old Olive, Bravo Burgundy, Holiday Thyme papers
Accessories: Wine grosgrain ribbon, olive organdy ribbon
Tools: Horizontal slot punch, Fiskars paper trimmer with scoring blade

Googly-eyed Elephant

Just a quick post to show off a card that my friend Kristy and I made for her brother's birthday. This one was a team effort - isn't it cute? We didn't use strictly Stampin' Up! products but we did get the general idea for the card from SplitcoastStampers.
