Welcome Baby Hunter!

Our gorgeous friends Natasha and Andrew recently welcomed home their new baby boy Hunter. Here is the card I have made for them:

The colour combination for this card came from the colours used in one of the Ribbon Originals collections called Sweet Shop. I don't actually have any of that ribbon but I thought the colours were nice together. A bit different to the usual pale blue or pink.

I'm sure I could have made this card much more elaborate with background stamping, paper piercing, ribbons and more but as you know, I like simple cards most of the time. Perhaps I will do another version one day and jazz it up a little more.

This card looks a little dark in the photo - perhaps it's the overcast weather here at the moment. It's much lighter and brighter in real life, especially the Hodge Podge Hardware.

Stamps: Wild About You
Inks: Apricot Appeal
Papers: Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal, Almost Amethyst, Rose Red, Whisper White
Accessories: Pewter Hodge Podge Hardware (photo turns and label holder), White Gel Pen

Sick, sick, sick...

Hi everyone,

Sorry AGAIN for the break in posting. This time it was a bout of VERY nasty gastro that attacked our household. Matt and I had it very badly but thank GOD for my parents! Mum actually left work and came to collect our son Toby and took him for 2 days and nights. She got him just in time and he didn't get sick. I'm soooo grateful to them for that as it was such a nasty bug I really didn't want him to catch it. I have no idea where I picked it up from but it really knocked us around. Being pregnant didn't exactly help either! We had the after hours doctor here at 5am after a scary night.

Did I mention how grateful I am to my parents??? Here's some proof that we really love them and appreciate their help at times like this:

This card is pretty much a direct CASE from Carol's blog (click HERE to see).
I normally would have come up with my own ideas for something like this but I was pretty exhausted from being sick so it was just easier to copy in this instance. Thanks Carol for posting such gorgeous ideas on your blog!

The only thing I changed was the ribbon and cardstock that the flower image is stamped on. I didn't have the white organdy that Carol used so I used the Ivory colour and then used Very Vanilla cardstock so it would match better with the ribbon. I also used a Very Vanilla envelope and stamped the same flower image on it.

Stamps: Carte Postale, French Flair background
Inks: Cool Caribbean, earth Elements Markers (Cameo Coral and Not Quite Navy)
Papers: Very Vanilla, Cameo Coral, Cool Caribbean
Accessories: Ivory Grosgrain Ribbon
Tools: Square Punches

I also gave them a gift voucher so I made a little gift card wallet using the same template as these ones I did for Christmas.

I used the Enchante paper from the Summer Mini for this wallet and a Pale Plum button from the Soft Subtles buttons.

Merry Layout

This is the final layout in Julian's baby album - a Christmas layout.

I used the Simply Scrappin' Kit "All The Trimmings" to make these pages.  The page on the right was copied almost exactly from an example on the front of the kit - why reinvent the wheel?

I then made the page on the left to match.  The Simply Scrappin' kits make scrapbooking sooooo easy!  This was the quickest of all the layouts in this album.

I still have heaps and heaps of cardstock and embellishments left in the kit that I can use for my own Christmas layouts for my son and even to make Christmas cards with for next year.  I have a document with instructions (and pictures!) on how to make cards from this kit.
Contact me if you are interested in purchasing the kit and I will give you the instructions as well.

Friends Layout

This layout was so simple and an easy way to incorporate patterned papers into your scrapbooks.  I don't think it even really needs much explanation.

The teddy bear was stamped with Chocolate Chip ink and coloured in with the Water Colour Wonder crayons and Aquapainter.

If you have any questions about anything on this blog, please do ask.  Leave a comment if you like!

Play Layout

I just love this layout - it's so cute! My son Toby loves it too. Before we gave the album to Bell and Julian, Toby loved to "read" all the pages and this one was his favourite. He loves the frogs.
This colour combination came from the Colour Wheel again.  Gable Green, Apricot Appeal and Bashful Blue.

I haven't used my Stampin' Around Wheels very much and here was a great opportunity.  The Lily Pad wheel coordinates perfectly with the Unfrogettable stamp set.

I coloured the images with an aquapainter and ink from the inside lids of my inkpads.  I coloured quickly and a little messily but it turned out pretty well (I was under the pump to get this done before Christmas Eve!).

I stamped the frogs, coloured them and then cut them out with my paper snips. These are just the BEST scissors for cutting out detailed images - the are sharp all the way to the tip, unlike my other ordinary scissors I have laying around the house.  This means you can get into all the little nooks and crannies with accuracy.

I added some googly eyes to the frogs - I think they're totally cute!  I adhered the googly eyes with glue dots.  The glue dots were a bit big for the eyes at first but I squished them up a bit to make them small enough.  I love glue dots for this sort of thing - I don't like using liquid glues much - too messy.
