Thankfully we didn't have too much damage here. Quite a few large branches blocking our driveway - thanks to Matt from next door for helping us move them. And thanks to Dad too for popping over with his chain saw today.
We weren't home during the storm - I was actually at a workshop in Coorparoo and then drove up to my parent's place for dinner. I thought driving up that highway was scary (aquaplaning is my nightmare!) but I was glad I was on the highway and not on some of the streets where all the trees came down. I had to dodge lots of fallen trees and flooded roads once I exited the highway. Mayhem!
We only just got our power back on tonight. Lots of spoiled food in the freezer and a bit of dented guttering so in the scheme of things we got a way pretty clean.
My heart goes out to those of you in the worst hit suburbs. I sure hope nobody's stamping stash was damaged!! But seriously, we're thinking of those people who lost so much during this terrible storm. May your houses be fixed as quickly as possible and we're just thankful that everyone is all right.

Hi Bec, You can say that again. I too only got the power back on tonight and was only able to put my workshop order from Sat in just now. We live in The Gap, on a hill, but we were really, really lucky, unlike others in the area. We have minor damage. Fortunately we had lots of trees near or house lopped only months ago. We still have a lot of cleaning up to do and some insurance items to claim but nothing irreplaceable. A house on a hill only 500m away has lost it's whole top storey!

P.S. Love your card ideas and blog!!!
I am soooo pleased you came out relatively unscathed! We were so lucky... we didn't lose power and only got rain and some wind!
