Sympathy card

I recently had cause to make a sympathy card for my sister to give to a close friend of hers.

Interestingly, I didn't have ANY stamps at all that actually said "with sympathy" or anything similar so I decided to just have a card with no sentiment on it.

I used a flower from the "Oh So Lovely" hostess set.  I stamped the background rectangle in Soft Sky on Very Vanilla cardstock, then stamped the flower image over the top in Versamark and embossed it in Silver.

The layer under the main image is Soft Sky cardstock and the card base is Chocolate Chip.  Before mounting the main image onto the card base (with Dimensionals), I stamped the top half on the flower image in Versamark ink all over the card base to create a background.

I was so pleased with this simple card that I re-created it again so I would have a copy for myself.  Of course, it doesn't have to be a sympathy card - it could be for any occasional really. I think I would like to re-create it again in some different colour combinations too.

Kristina's Colour Inspiration #16

My brother-on-law just had his appendix out so I decided to use Kristina's colour challenge to make a get well card for him.

Toby's card

On the weekend I did a workshop for a lovely group of ladies.  It was a bit of a birthday party since my birthday was on the Sunday and the hostess' on the previous Thursday.  The lovely hostess brought gifts for me and also for my two boys, Toby and Owen so Toby and I decided to stamp her a thank you card.

My Birthday

On Sunday I turned 30!  I had a lovely day with my family.  I just wanted to share with you this card from my mum.  She has used some really pretty colours (purple is a fave of mine) and techniques.

I like the way she has stamped the Paisely background and then coloured parts of it with a marker.  The flowers from the Pretties kit look great coloured in the Pale Plum and Perfect Plum colours.  Nice job Mum!

Colour Inspiration #15

I have had another go at Kristina's colour inspiration challenge.  It was done late last night when i should have been in bed (when will I learn???) but I'm reasonably happy with it.  

I never would have done a row of eyelets like that before I had the Crop-a-dile.  Way too much effort! But with the Crop-a-dile it was pretty easy really.  Probably if I had taken more care/time I would have got them spaced better.  I did use my mat pack to space them but I was kinda rushing due the time of night and wanting to get to bed!

I used some patterned paper from the Prints series and the stamp is from the Hostess set "For a Friend"  I coloured the dots and flower with the white gel pen.

My Best Birthday Present Ever!!! The Scrapbox!!!

I am just sooo excited!  It's my birthday this Sunday 13th July and my wonderful husband gave me my birthday present early.  It's a big birthday (turning 30) so he decided I needed a big present.  The Scrapbox!

I had seen these online but at that stage they were only available in the U.S.A.  Then recently I saw them at a papercraft expo.  I went home and told hubby about it, expecting him to not be interested BUT he could see the value in having all my stuff in one place, at my fingertips, a place for everything and everything in it's place.  So he said "Let's get it for your birthday"  Whoo Hoo!

It arrived last week and we spent a few days putting it together (we don't get much uninterrupted time these days with 2 kids!) and now it is done.

I have labeled all the totes and put everything into them.

On the far left and right are velcro boards.  I plan on using one side for displays and the other for storage.  My paper trimmer fits nicely into one of the long clear velcro-on bags.

The large totes on the left hold all my stamp sets.  The skinny totes beside them hold punches, wheel handles, wheel guide etc.

The 12x12 totes in the centre hold 12x12 papers, scrapping kits, A4 papers, and the 2 closest to the bottom hold my markers and scissors.

I took out some of the shelves so I could fit my ink pad caddy in there.

On the right hand side, the skinny totes hold everything from buttons, brads, eyelets and embossing powders to sanding blocks, sponges, daubers and twine.

The wider totes on the right hold all kinds of things - hodge podge hardware, pretties kit, ribbon spools (although Heather from Scrapbox Australia is getting me a special ribbon tote soon), adhesives, watercolour crayons, brayer and so much more.

The table folds away and there is even a little bit of storage room under there.  I need to get a bin for under that space.

Here's how it looks all closed up. It even has locks on the top to keep the kids out - perfect!

Hostess Appreciation Evening

Dad's Birthday

It's my dad's birthday today so I took the opportunity at my last Open Stamp Night to make him a card. (I don't get a lot of stamping time at the moment, as you probably know!)

For this card I started with the Designer Paper - Jesrsey Shore.  I chose a piece of it and then took my colour scheme from there. (Brilliant Blue, Wild Wasabi, Pumpkin Pie, Bashful Blue, Whisper White)

The stamp I used is from a "retired" set from the Sale-a-bration catalogue called "Birthday Whimsy".  I inked it with my Wild Wasabi inkpad and then removed ink from the candles and plate with a cotton bud and stmapin' mist.  Then I re-coloured whose areas with a Brilliant Blue marker and Pumkin Pie marker.

The sentiment is from the Cheer and Wishes stamp set.

The brads are from the Bold Brights selection.  I probably would use the brads differently if I did it over again.  Maybe one in each corner of the main image section or something like that...
